The Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS) series is a global gathering of electric drive industry leaders including policymakers, research and academic communities, global press and, on one day, the general public. The biennial event rotates to take place in different host countries and was in Montreal, Canada for 2016. UNANIMOUS was tasked with creating branding, trade show graphics, marketing collateral, and interactive pieces for the massive event.
UNANIMOUS first met with the EVS team at the event space in Montreal to plan and schedule all of the necessary steps and components for the event. First, an event logo and branding were created, along with overall design recommendations. The new branding aligned much better with the EVS brand positioning while creating buzz for the event. The new design aesthetic was executed into a number of pre-event marketing initiatives to draw interest, including full-page ads, save-the-date mailers, and event mailers.
The event branding was on display throughout the event in programs, large display graphics, banners, kiosks, a wayfinding system, and additional marketing collateral. Ensuring that all design elements met brand standards was a huge undertaking in itself.
UNANIMOUS designed the Ride, Drive and Charge logo to accompany the EVS29 event. The Ride, Drive and Charge event allows visitors to test drive a number of electric vehicles on a closed track. The branding captures the fun and excitement of the event with a revved-up odometer integrated into the wordmark. By creating a distinct logo for the event within the event, it helped to generate excitement and participation.
EVS29 was a huge success for The Electric Vehicle Symposium. The event was heavily attended and hit or exceeded a number of benchmarks. Media coverage for the event was outstanding. Over 50 journalists from print, television, radio, trade web outlets were in attendance including key media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, Automotive News, Consumer Reports, Charged EVs Magazine, various national Canadian television, print and trade outlets and international outlets from Europe and Asia. EVS was extremely pleased with the results.
UNANIMOUS designed the graphics for the event-specific EVS29 mobile app. The app featured an activity feed, instant messaging, an attendee list that allowed for seamless networking, and detailed information on sponsors and exhibitors. The app kept attendees engaged and served as a further extension of the events overall branding. UNANIMOUS designed various graphics for the app including backgrounds, logos, and icons.
UNANIMOUS designed and developed the EVS29 website, which served as the event hub with sponsorship spots, event information, schedules, and event registration. The website was constantly updated with news and Twitter feeds to generate interest and return visits. The mobile-friendly design allowed visitors to access the website during the event for real-time updates and key information.
UNANIMOUS designed two crucial marketing pieces for EVS29, the event program and brochure. The event program featured EVS29 branding and included daily events, ads, exhibitor information, and floor plans. An accompanying brochure was designed to serve as a smaller version of the event program. The pocket-sized brochure included events, times, and locations. Both print pieces were critical elements to keep attendees engaged and help the event run smoothly.
