The LUX Center for the Arts is a community arts center dedicated to promoting, teaching, and celebrating the visual arts. The nonprofit organization has been a pillar in Lincoln, NE, for over 40 years and partnered with UNANIMOUS to design and develop a completely new website. The LUX’s web presence focuses on artists and their work while creating an immersive experience for visitors looking to purchase art, support the LUX, register for classes, or learn about upcoming exhibitions.

UNANIMOUS designed and developed the LUX’s website with a focus on building a complete user experience inclusive of everything the organization has to offer. Visitors to the website can easily register for classes, purchase art, become a member, and donate. The design features various avenues for exploring art through artist pages, exhibitions, and directories. Related content is referenced throughout the website, offering additional content to users based on art medium, age group, artists, programs, exhibitions, and more.
A key consideration for the website was a fully refined site administration experience. A number of efficiencies were created to save time, generate useful reports, simplify workflow, and eliminate unnecessary tasks.
Art exhibitions play an integral role at the LUX and need a robust platform for promotion. UNANIMOUS designed and developed the website with a simple workflow to promote current, future, and past exhibitions.
The chronologically listed exhibitions are searchable and can be filtered by artist and medium. Visitors can also explore the LUX permanent collection, past shows, and artist directories, and artists can apply to have their work shown at the LUX.
Each exhibition has the ability to display information about the artist, exhibition opening, show dates, exhibit description, artist statement, art medium, and show images and/or videos associated with the show. Art available for purchase is displayed, as well as other upcoming exhibits.
LUX Center classes and programs provide the community and youth opportunities to learn about and experience art. UNANIMOUS built a comprehensive class schedule allowing website visitors to explore and register for upcoming classes.
Registering for a class or program is easily accomplished through a streamlined user interface that allows users to filter classes by age, medium, and program type. Visitors may also find more information about workshops, parties, the Artist in Residence program, and community outreach.
Program pages display detailed information about the instructor, location, schedule, cost, spots available, age group, description, art medium, and images or videos about the class. Similar classes are suggested and listed chronologically below each program.
There are numerous ways to get involved at the LUX. UNANIMOUS built the LUX’s new website to better showcase the powerful impact of supporting the organization’s cause.
Visitors to the website can support the LUX through various means, including donating, sponsoring, membership, volunteering, purchasing art, and attending events.
At the bottom of every page, visitors can subscribe to the LUX e-newsletter and receive email updates about classes, exhibits, shop sales, and more.
The LUX’s website is fully integrated with e-commerce, allowing visitors to purchase art, register for classes, become a member, and donate all within a single transaction. Art for sale is searchable and can be filtered based on artist and medium.
Users can also purchase gift certificates to be used on classes or artwork. Various donation and sponsorship opportunities are also available throughout the website to encourage support of the LUX.
Each shop page features information about the artist, inventory, price, description, art mediums, and any exhibitions in which the artwork is featured. Shop items also have the ability to show multiple images or videos related to the work.
