Upchurch S.T.E.M. Elementary offers a positive and nurturing learning environment where students excel both personally and academically through innovative, challenging, and diverse programs. Located in Omaha, NE, Upchurch is the Millard School District’s dedicated S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) elementary school. UNANIMOUS collaborated with Upchurch, Millard Public Schools, and Millard Career Academies to design a refreshed visual identity for the Upchurch Leapers while establishing a cohesive brand across the entire family of Millard S.T.E.M. schools.

Visual Identity

After successfully partnering with Millard Career Academies to rebrand their high school S.T.E.M. program, Millard Public Schools approached us with a new challenge: rebranding their Elementary S.T.E.M. school (Upchurch) and Middle School S.T.E.M. school (Russell). Both schools’ existing logos were outdated, difficult to use across applications, and uninspired, failing to resonate with students or staff.

Our Approach
The goal was to create modern, versatile logos that reflected the innovative and engaging nature of S.T.E.M. education while being professional yet still fun and age-appropriate. The design direction was clear: modern, cute, and colorful—without crossing into "cartoony." The result needed to be visually appealing to younger students but polished enough to represent the school's academic integrity.

Brand Standards

To ensure Upchurch maintains a cohesive and recognizable identity, we developed comprehensive design standards to make it easy for the school to consistently apply brand colors and fonts across all platforms. Consistency is key to building a strong brand, especially in education, where trust and familiarity are important. However, we also recognized the need for flexibility. That’s why we created a versatile family of logo variations, offering Upchurch the freedom to adapt its branding for different applications while staying true to the core identity.

We just love the new Leaper! Thank you to the UNANIMOUS team for helping us elevate our design and develop a connection as a Millard S.T.E.M. school. Curiosity, innovation, and creativity are important to the Upchurch community, and we feel like this rebrand absolutely achieves our goals.

Cohesive S.T.E.M. Branding

We were challenged to create brand assets that visually connected the elementary S.T.E.M. school, middle school, and high school S.T.E.M. program within the Millard Career Academies. To achieve this, we used consistent fonts across all programs, reinforcing a unified identity. We also integrated the S.T.E.M. icon into each logo lockup, symbolizing the shared focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Additionally, we designed unique badges for each school, which can be used as secondary logos on apparel, signage, marketing materials, and more, providing flexibility while maintaining brand cohesion.

The updated branding has increased awareness of the exceptional opportunities available at Upchurch S.T.E.M. Elementary and its partner schools. As a result, more families are taking advantage of the innovative programs, leading to student success.
